Kingspan Access Floors recently placed one of the company's tallest orders ever in the Middle East for 44,000 square meters of flooring. The Burj Alshaya Center purchased about one million Brittish pounds worth of flooring for a 45-storey office tower project presently under construction in Kuwait City.
Project developer, the Alshaya Group, placed the order directly with Kingspan after approached by the London office of the group's design consultants, Gensler. Last year, prior to the closing of this sale, the Alshaya Group asked Kingspan to provide 1,100 square meters of flooring in 2015 (last year) for the Alshaya Group to see the finished product installed, which enabled the team to appreciate the quality of Kingspan's flooring first hand, which is now part of the overall project.
The remaining portions of this project are being shipped in three phases; in August 2016 (this month), November 2016 and February 2017. "As the UK's leading raised flooring manufacturer, we were able to give the Alshaya Group the reassurance that we can supply the product in batches of 11,000 square meters in just ten days ex-works. according to Thomas Koshy, Kingspan's regional manager in the Middle East, who added "This will enable them to complete ten floors with each of the first two shipments, with a larger shipment to complete the order."
The Burj Alshaya project comprises three distinct buildings: the commercial tower, a 23-storey hotel and a podium. Kingspan is supplying ~ 35,400 square meters of panels for the office areas and 8,500 square meters of heavier grade panels to take the weight of a stone finish in the corridors and reception area. These are being supplied direct to the developer of the project. In business since 1903, Kingspan is a market leader, specializing in the supply and installation of access flooring for a variety of uses; such as computer rooms, meeting rooms, data processing centres and offices. Employing about 130 people in Hull and having a turnover last year of 50 million pounds, Kingspan recently installed 30,000 square meters of flooring at the First Gulf Bank in Abu Dhabi, and 46,000 square meters of flooring in the Q22 skycraper in Warsaw, Poland.
Kingspan is working on a project to install 27,000 square meters of flooring at the Brussels Airport and has a number of international and UK projects in the pipeline, it said, but for reasons of commercial sensitivity, it could not give further details. Kingspan attributes its success to a high-quality product and market- leading research and development facilities and state-of-the-art production lines, which give it the capability and capacity to supply sizeable orders in tight timelines.
