The likes of larch
Posted on: 07-07-2018 by Floor Covering Media

Homeowners. Why limit yourself to oak, pine or walnut with an assortment of exotics species available? Included in the exotic wood flooring category are: Ipe, African Wenge, Tonka Bean Cumaru / Brazilian Cherry and Larch.

Larch trees are conifers that lose their leaves in the fall and mostly grow in cooler areas of the northern hemisphere, This strong, durable and moisture resistant material makes it ideally suited for engineered and solid wood flooring. Larch is not the most commonly available species. Those fortunate enough to locate it have a broad spectrum of colors and finishes available to them. Larch is likely to light up the room in traditional and modern settings.

Engineered larch is recommended for kitchens and bathrooms, as it is capable of withstanding the fluctuations in heat and moisture. Elsewhere, solid larch is suggested. This material possesses a remarkable durability, even in spaces with frequent foot traffic.

Larch is not just tougher than pine but also affordably priced. Is it any wonder why more people are leaning toward larch for their residential spaces? Ranging from almost white to a rich dark brown, there is a visible grain and significant color variations for a natural look. Those worried about wear and tear may add a lacquered finish. Larch could be brushed, whitewashed and aged as well.
