Ways to keep a hardwood floor looking newer
Posted on: 05-10-2019 by Floor Covering Media

Does hardwood flooring accentuate the appearance of interior spaces in a home or at the office?

Certainly, providing that this type of natural surface routinely receives proper care! This changes with wear, unless the hardwood flooring is a well maintained one.

What does a person do when the flooring starts to wear? Where does one turn as fading, scratching and scuffing draws negative attention to the flooring?

Preventive measures could include removing shoes and the dirt they pick up outside. For those of us who are proud pet owners, remember that trimming your pet's claws may serve to cut down on scratches.

Frequent sweeping is helpful to keep the floor looking newer, as dust particles, pebbles, dirt and debris accumulates in transit and scratches the floor's finish.

Furniture fixes, in residential and commercial spaces, are great way of accentuating an appearance of hardwood flooring.

Area rugs, which add color and protection to the space, are one way of complementing the surface of hardwood flooring. When doing so, however, remember to install a rug mat beneath your area rug. It prevents the rug from moving around. With a rug mat, it minimizes dirt under the rug. Less dirt, trapped under the rug, is a useful method of scratch prevention.

Floor mats, not to be consfused with area rug mats, are helpful in preventing standing fatigue. Placed under the furniture with wheels and casters, floor mats could provide added protection for flooring in the basement, kitchen and bathroom. Keeping floors fully protected might be as simple as regular maintenance combined with a few easy-to-follow house rules.
