What is the pendulum test?
Posted on: 03-19-2020 by Floor Covering Media

Slips. It's not a pleasant topic. However, it's an important one. This is a subject that inarguably deserves our attention. Business owners concerned about accountability are likely to share a legitimate concern: liability.

Slips could be a common cause of injury on some surfaces more than others. Measuring the slip resistance of a surface could prove useful when assessing slip risks; wherever they are likely to occur:

* The Jobsite

* Workplace

* Your Home

What's the purpose of the pendulum test? To measure the slip potential of a walking surface. What establishes a safe measurement? A pendulum test value (PTV) classified as having a lower slip potential is a measure over the value of 36. Conversely, a measure under the value of 36 suggests potential for slippage on the tested surface is moderate or higher.
