'No simple answer' for cleaning companies dealing with wood flooring
Posted on: 01-21-2012 by Floor Covering Media

Members (and Visitors):

Floor Covering Media found a blog article, recently posted at FastKlean, acknowleding that there are no simple answers for those cleaning companies dealing with wood flooring.  This blog article, posted by Peter Michael, informs readers workers for cleaning companies might be interested in some tips for cleaning wood flooring.  Writing on sbsun.com, Mary Hunt said that while there is "no simple answer" when it comes to cleaning wood flooring - a fact employees for cleaning companies will know all too well - there are things that can improve the job.  For laminate wood flooring, the best place to start is with a damp mop, but to refrain from using detergents or laminates because they may dull a floor.  If they are attempting a spot of heavy cleaning, use mixture of household vinegar and water or household ammonia and water, she suggested.  Engineered wood is a different story, however, and cleaning companies planning to scrub these will need to employ different techniques.  Never use vinyl or tile floor cleaners on wood, she suggested, and avoid using a wet mop.  It is important to work out what sort of wood floor you are dealing with, added Ms Hunt, whether this be varnish or shellac, a penetrating wax seal or a surface finish.  One simple tip the expert does note is that the best way to care for wood floors is to ensure dirt never becomes embedded in them in the first place; according to the article.  More at FastKlean.

Sincerely,
FCM Staff
